This is the preferred method because it ensures that you are not stopping and reversing direction while still spraying on their skin: doing so will result in DHA oversaturation! The side-to-side technique produces a more natural-looking tan and allows you to finish each pass in the “negative space” on either side of the client’s body.
I recommend using a side-to-side technique, as taught at Aviva Labs Academy, over an up-and-down spray tan technique. Spray Tanning with an improper technique can often actually be the cause of many of these other problems.
